WPD find the perfect solution for their communication needs via the Radius PDR 121 data radio

Western Power Distribution are an electrical distribution company for the South West of England and Wales. They deliver electricity to 2.5 million customers over a 26,000 km service area. They have a very long standing relationship with Radius UK Ltd, and when the new PDR 121 wireless data radio was launched they were one of the first companies to take advantage of the new features this data radio offered.

The very first thing they discovered was just how versatile the product was for many radio network applications. WPD have recently installed and commissioned the data radio network utilising the PDR121 data radio in order to replace an existing analogue radio and leased line private wire system for a scanned telemetry application.

The data-radio networking and radio repeater capability of the PDR121 has been utilised as an alternative communications network to the leased line private wire circuits that were previously used to connect remote RTU nodes, where direct radio links to established hill-top radio base station sites were not an option.
