| PDR radio system monitors Saudi Gas Pipeline | |
| 14 November 2008 A PDR Radio system from Radius will be used to monitor and shutdown the gas operated valves employed on methane and ethane gas pipeline that stretches along the eastern region of Saudi Arabia, the largest oil producer in the world. Radius will provide a UHF radio communication system which will connect Invensys Remote Terminal Units (RTU) installed along the gas pipeline, to exchange the data with Distribution control System (DCS). PDR radios will also be used to send Leak Detection signals from various locations along the pipeline to the DCS for monitoring purposes. PDR 121 radios were chosen due to their unique multi-repeating functionality and their ability to maintain the link integrity even in the harsh environmental conditions due to employing forward error correction technique in the radio design. Moreover, in view of the “mission critical” nature of the of the application, Radius was the obvious choice, since our HSC100 controller will make each site fully duplicated with hot stand-by redundancy to make sure the radio system installed is fail safe and 100% available in a highly cost effective way. Radius won this business through its recently established Middle East office based in UAE, that will underpin company’s strategic growth plans in the region. About Radius: About Invensys: | |
