The Radius PDR 121 wireless data radio modem are being used at a number of critical locations along methane and ethane gas pipelines covering an area over 100km2 in and around the city of Jubail in Saudi Arabia.

The contract was awarded by the Saudi Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu to the local Radius distributor, Invensys, who are also responsible for the gas leakage system and the Distrubuted Control System.

The project covers three 36-inch methane gas pipelines and two 36-inch ethane pipelines carrying gas supplied from Saudi Aramaco. Each site will have a PDR 121 wireless data radio modem, in full redundancy, operated by the HSC 100 Hot Standby Controller, to allow automatic switching of the data radio in the event of loss of communication.
