Radius has, via its local partner Autochim Systems, succeeded in securing a contract to supply Distribution Automation solutions to 560 secondary distribution substations from the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) in the United Arab Emirates. These substations will be fitted with the Radius NMS range of remote switchgear controllers and where required ‘retro-fit’ motor actuators. Each substation will contain between 3 and 12 switches and or circuit breakers and will be controlled via a central DMS system using IEC60870-5-104 protocol.

This contract has been awarded on the back of trials that ADDC has been conducting with the Radius NMS 100 remote switch controller, the FastNet Distribution RTU and the PDR wireless data radio modem.

Radius has developed a range of  retro-fit motor actuators for switches and circuit-breakers with this project covering a range of manufacturers equipment including Tamco, Brush, Hawker Siddelely, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, F&G and Contact Plasma.
