Radius NME 400 is a maintenance free electric motor driven operating device for supervision and control of pole-mounted air-break switches, load break swithes and disconnectors. Utilising powerful linear motor technology, with varibale speed and power options in order to match the unit to the switch.

Slim line design
The NME 400 is designed to present a slim profile so that it does not extend beyond the average pole silhouet. It is also designed to allow it to be placed within the side walls of a standard H-style steel upright pole. This solution avoids unecessary damage s well as maintaining the best aesthetics for the installation.
Power Connections
The NME 400 come swith a number of power supply options including a direct connection to any DC overhead supply upto 600DC (Regulated upto 1000DC), standard AC voltage 140/230 or higher voltages with transformers.
Stored Energy/Battery Management
The NME 400 is provided with a rechargeable battery solution to ensure continued operational performance beyond the loss of supplied voltage. Battery performance and battery life are very critical elements to the long-term effectiveness of any remote device. To that end, Radius has designed a sophisticated solution to maximise battery life.
The NME 400 cabinet temperature is thermostatically controlled to ensure battery temperatures are kept within the manufacturers operating tolerances. Furthermore the battery charging is temperature compensated to ensure battery health. A calibrated load further tests the batteries at a selectable time interval to ensure that their health has been maintained.
NME 400 has a control panel that can be used locally to open or close the disconnector and a standby manual operators handle for when there is no power available from the batteries. Should a manual manouvre be required this can be performed by the supplied handle. This makes the device ideally suited not only on spur lines but to the main sections as well. All information is reported to the rail operators control centre.
Communication Alternatives
The NME 400 is designed to operate in a wide range of switch applications. The motor switch operator can be used in conjunction with the following communication philosopies.
3rd party communication
The NME 400 can be supplied as an option with a DNP3 or IEC870 protocol interface, allowing it to be integrated in to an existing SCADA system. The PDR range of digital data radios which allow wide high speed communication to the host system and because of the mesh type technology repeating function can cover very wide geographically areas.
