Retrofit Motor Operators/Actuators

Radius has extensive experience of providing interfaces to existing switchgear in order to increase the asset life and the functionality of our customer’s switches, disconnectors and circuit breakers. We have a staff of experienced engineers ready to undertake refurbishment/retrofitting projects of various sizes. Radius has already designed a number of retrofit solutions. Radius provides the equipment required to retrofit/refurbish existing switches. We offer a tailor made, reliable, cost effective motor actuator with optimized performance due to the balance between force and speed of the maneuver. We can also offer additional products and services where we;

• can conduct a detailed investigation to identify the requirement for retrofitting
• if needed, also offer a modification of the switchgear, to fulfill the customer wish of level of automation and control
• can offer the possibility to control the actuators locally via the built-in maneuver panel if the customer chooses to connect the actuators to Radius NMS 100
• offer the possibility to remotely control the actuators by connecting them to a Radius NMS 100

For customers in the Middle and Far East we have designed retrofit actuators for the Tamco Brush OLU Switch. (picture 1, picture 2) The motor actuators are controlled by and connected to the customers SCADA via a Radius NMS 100 that communicates with the control-room by radio and GPRS.

Also for our Middle East customers we have designed retrofit actuator kits for the  Tamco GR1, Tamco Falcon Beta and Brush Falcon Beta. The kit is designed to give a true indication of the status of the switches by using contacts driven directly from the switchgear and not via the motor unit.
