Radius designs and manufactures a range of digital data radio modems for OEM applications for use in remote control, telemetry, SCADA, alarm monitoring and mission critical systems. Using the latest in digital data radio technology these products are used by utilities and industry alike. They are designed to provide wide area system coverage to ensure reliable, secure and cost effective transmission of critical data to remote sites. Features such as repeating, encryption and remote diagnostics come as part of the standard package. Which means that a digital data radio modem from Radius will give you all the features, security and reliability you will ever need. So whether you are looking to install a simple point-to-point network, or a point-to-multipoint the Radius PDR digital data radio will be your first choice.
Data Radio Modems
The Radius PDR range of digital data radios allows the user to connect a central control system to a large number of remote telemetry sites. The high receiver sensitivity, forward error correction, and in built repeater functions allow radio coverage in even the most demanding environments. Covering the VHF and UHF frequency bands, the PDR digital data radio can be used in transparent mode as in the PDR 221 or can be used to send specific protocols through a wide area repeater network as in the PDR 121.
Radio Network Management
Since many applications are mission critical, ensuring your data radio network is reliable is key. Often outside factors can influence the integrity of the system, from water ingress in to cables to high temperatures at remote sites. Usually a fault in the data radio network happens over a period of time. Being able to continually monitor the data radio network using non-intrusive diagnostics ensures a Radius PDR can be alerted to potential communication problems well in advance. The RND 100 radio network management software constantly keeps the user informed of all the characteristics of the data radio network, both in real time and historically.

The following pages give reference to general radio networking equipment. terms and how to calcualte a "radio link budget". The information can be useful when planning a radio network, but is not essential for using the PDR 121. Please click here for further information
Telemetry
Providing a secure data communication link via the Radius data radio modems is only one part of the story. Collecting the analogue and digital data from the remote sites and presenting them to the central system is also key to a succesful remote control telemetry system. Radius provides a range of I/O mouldes and RTU's (Remote Terminal Units) for industrial and utility applications. The modules and RTU's support a range of standard protocols, including Modbus, DNP and IEC870.
